The team at Audioengine have developed the W1, a two unit system (sender, receiver) that sends wireless CD quality stereo audio across distances up to 100 feet, perfect for listening to your iPod thru speakers in different rooms or setting up surround sound systems without wires.
We connected the W1 transmitter from a surround-sound receiver to the rear speakers with the W1 receiver and were impressed with the sound, ease of use, and reliability of the wireless system. Not having to run cables from the back of the stereo across the living room floor, or worse, snaking cables thru the walls and under the floor was such a relief. We experienced no interference or dropouts in the signal, even thou we’re located in a busy WiFi area with tons of cell phone users, microwaves and other potential interference devices.
Next we tried the system out by connecting the USB transmitter directly to our Laptop with our receiver connected to our stereo system. Our Mac recognized the USB transmitter as a soundcard without the need for software or drivers and we were able to listen to our iTunes library wirelessly from our laptop to our stereo system. Sweet!
Here are different ways to use the W1:

Audioengine has delivered on their promise and the $149 asking price beats tearing up your room to hide wires.
